NTS expanded rapidly through both internal growth and acquisitions of franchises and operating systems. At the time of sale, NTS was building or operating 23 systems service over 41,000 basic subscribers in Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Virginia.

Prior to founding GENDEX, Mr. McDonough served as Senior Vice president, Finance, of the Newell Companies, Inc. (NYSE) of Freeport, Illinois. He now serves on Newell's Board of Directors.
