International Structure and Programs

Lambda Alpha International (LAI) is incorporated in the State of Illinois as a not for profit corporation and maintains a headquarters office in Chicago, Illinois. As the communica- tions hub of the organization, the administrative staff in Chicago helps to coordinate the various activities of the organization and provides the following services:

1. Publication of the Membership Directory, which lists the name, current address and telephone number of each active member. The Membership Directory also lists the field of expertise of each active member and contains a second directory that indicates on a Chapter-by-Chapter basis, the categories of services that may be obtained from all ac- tive members who are available for fee assignments.

2. Publication of the newsletter, entitled "Keynotes,' which is edited by the scribe. This newslet- ter keeps members abreast of the activities of the national organization, and also provides information concerning the activities of various Chapters and individual members.

3. Assistance with the arrangements for the meetings of the Executive Committee and the annual meetings of the Board of Governors.

4. Assistance in the planning of, and the arrangement for, educational seminars devoted to current topics of critical importance to individuals involved in the study of land economics or the application of its principles to current business problems.

5. Assistance with the planning of, and the arrangements for, the Biennial International Congress, which features a full day educational session devoted to topics related to land economics and featuring outstanding speakers from the business and academic worlds and the government.

6. Assistance in the development and nurturing of new professional LAI chapters and LAI Student Association Chapters throughout the world.

7. Housekeeping activities, such as dues collection; issuance of new membership cer- tificates and membership keys; regular informational mailings to officers, members of the Board of Governors, Committees, Chapters and others; and the preparation and filing of required tax and other governmental forms and reports.
