COMPANY HISTORY
Tamarack Technologies, Inc. was founded in 1989 by Tamarack Telecom. Since that time, they have become a worldwide leader in developing, manufacturing and marketing optical and electronic peripherals with an emphasis on performance, reliability and affordability. Known throughout Europe and Asia for their scanning and paging systems, Tamarack has now committed to embarking on a major marketing effort in the United States.

In 1990, Tamarack developed their first 300 dpi A4 flatbed color scanner, which became the recipient of several industry publication awards for speed and color superiority. They continued to refine and enhance their product line by providing complete scanning solutions. Technologically advanced scanners, offering the ultimate in speed and power, were successfully introduced to meet industry demands. Providing leading edge products is a Tamarack tradition. Their engineering staff average more than eight years experience in the design and manufacturing of flatbed scanners. Prior to production, each product is researched so that the company is informed on product feasibility. This enables them to manufacture the most advanced, highest quality equipment at the lowest possible cost.

PRODUCTS
Competitive flatbed scanners are built from similar technology and products are distinguished from each other by how the optics integrate into the scanning system. Tamarack takes great pride in their engineering and craftsmanship and make every effort to achieve perfection in product design and manufacturing.

The complete line of ArtiScan Pro 24-bit (16.7 million colors) flatbed scanners offer 300, 400 and 600 dpi optical resolutions respectively. The scanning process involves three passes (red, green and blue), which are integrated into information transferred into a color image identifiable by a computer, as well as the human eye. The ArtiScan Pro 6000C, 8000C and 12000C scanners stand out from the competition because they contain one of the best built solid chassis on the market. This produces extremely accurate RGB scans by reducing vibration, which can cause color misregistration. Optional add-on devices include transparency slide plates and an automatic 50-page document feeder.

Tamarack has recently augmented their award-winning line to include a single pass flatbed color scanner. The Z1-600 scanner is a 300 dpi, 30-bit (1.07 billion colors) unit integrating specialized ASIC chip technology. This increases scanning speeds by up to 40 percent, reduces cost by approximately 20 percent and significantly lowers energy consumption. The single pass scanner line will continue to expand to include higher resolutions and multifunction units.

Always in the forefront of technology, Tamarack has just announced their Personal Document Scanner (PDS). This amazing 2.5 pound Contact Image Sensor (CIS) sheetfed scanner has been designed to meet the requirements of office automation and the small office/home office (SOHO) markets. In addition to image processing, the multifunction PDS scanner converts the personal computer into a copier, fax machine, and even an automatic text reader. And, in keeping with the Tamarack philosophy of making technology affordable, the PDS will list for under $200.

The installation of the Tamarack driver is among the easiest in the industry. The TWAIN module automatically installs and progresses from one stage to the next with the click of the mouse. Compatible with Macintosh and Windows, these scanners are offered with award-winning software and are available with image-editing and text recognition software bundles.

To establish strategic worldwide relationships with their business partners, Tamrack recently relocated and expanded their US Headquarters to Southern California.
