  Vice President of Creative Design

For decades, Bob Marzewski has been seeking a career where is isn't constantly being asked: "With all the amazing things you can do, how did you end up here?" His search brought him to Silicon Valley five years ago as the Internet began to explode.

One of Bob's self-professed goals is to "be one with his Mac". From viewing the look, feel and content of the hundreds of professional web sites that Bob has created for commercial clients of ISP Channel (www.ispchannel.com) and SoftNet (www.SoftNet.com), one would conclude that Bob achieved his goal some time ago.

Bob's infuses his Internet work with his life experience as an artist, 30+ year computer maven, engineer and educator in science and mathematics. His great pedagogical skill in communicating often difficult technical and/or business concepts with style, grace and humor have led to his being one of the busiest web designers working today. Significant commercial web sites that Bob created over the past 5 years include:

  • www.NevadaNet.com - When I turned it over to the web team (who I helped train) at the Reno Gazette Journal, it was over 400 pages long, and while the content has changed, I can still see my organization intact.
  • www.malawi.com - While Bob Evans was off wiring the country of Malawi, Africa, I was working on their first web site.
Closer to home, Bob's unique creative vision is responsible for Internet Inventions websites, www.internetinventions.com, www.NETmachine.net, and www.DomainWorld.com.

But merely pointing to Bob's computer work, however impressive, doesn't do justice to his artistic depth, problem solving ability and vision. Bob has worked in every imaginable medium, including metal, glass and light.

"There are 2 types of thinkers. The first learns more and more about less and less until soon they know everything about nothing. The second learns less and less about more and more until they know nothing about everything.

I tend to fall into the second category."

To get a sense of his artistry across disparate media, check out his personal web site and home of thousands of free to download world globe images/animations, www.wizzard.com. Or better yet, look for Bob in person as well as his oversize sculpture he contributed this year to Burning Man '99: Monolith.

Bob has a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Michigan and an M.S. in Physics from Eastern Michigan University. He taught high school physics for 15 years.

Sir William Crookes built this tube in 1879 to study the behavior of cathode rays. He investigated the factors that influenced the fluorescence including the pressure, influence of magnetic fields and shape of the tube.

The Crookes Tube is the direct ancestor of the tubes used in television and computer monitors.
