Incoming Fun

There's no place quite like the Reno and summertime getaway. Atter a record- breaking winter of rain and snow, northern Nevada is blossoming with exciting outdoor events and activities that are bound to appeal to just about everyone.

Reno is quickly becoming known as the special events capital of the West. The ‹ season gets rolling June 17 - 25 with the 76th Annual Reno Rodeo, the "wildest, richest rodeo in the West." Sports Cars and All That Jazz brings big name entertainment and fancy sports cars to town July 7 - 9, followed by one of the world's biggest classic car events, Hot August Nights, August 2 - 6.

On August 19, enjoy the traditional food, dancing, colorful events and competitions at the Reno Basque Festival, then stick around town for the exciting Nevada State Fair, August 23 - 27. You might even have time to catch the Holiday Festival on Ice, August 26 - 27.

For a September to remember, be sure to schedule these must-see events on your calendar: The Great Reno Balloon Race, September 8 - 10; National Championship Air Races, September 14 - 17; Street Vibrations (motorcycles galore), September 21 - 24; and the 29th Annual l.C.S. World's Championship Chili Cook Off & American Food Festival, September 29 through October 1.

Up at Lake Tahoe, with its fresh air, perfect summer climate and unmatched beauty, just being there is a spe- cial event. Only a short, scenic ride from Reno, Lake Tahoe offers everything from hiking to horseback riding, beach-bumming to boating.

Some of the popular events for this summer ~_ include the Valhalla Renaissance Festival at Camp Richardson, June 10 - 11; the Star Spangled Fourth of July fire- works spectacular on the South Shore, July 4; the star-studded Isuzu Celebrity Golf Championship at Edgewood, July 6 - 9; Air Fest '95 at the South Tahoe Airport, July 15; Shakespeare at Sand Harbor, August 11 through September 3; and the Cool September Days classic car show, September 15 - 17.

Brand new for the Summer of '95, the south shore casinos will be participating in themed entertainment weekends includ- ing: Comedy Weekend, June 2 - 4; Country Weekend, June 9 - 11; Pop Weekend, June 16 - 18; and Jazz Weekend, June 23 - 25.
