Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler! (Let the good times roll!) And the good times are rolling indeed in the nation's hottest tourist destination with the grand opening of Harrah's New Orleans interim casino, located at the historic Municipal Auditorium on Basin Street.

The Municipal Auditorium has seen a variety of concerts, balls and other events since its grand opening in 1930. Now, the building has undergone a multi-million dollar remodel- ing for another grand opening‹this time as Harrah's first casino in the Crescent City.

The casino decor captures the essence of New Orleans and the spirit of Mardi Gras. Complete with beautiful multi-colored stream- ers, Tivoli lighting and enormous jesters' heads suspended above the main casino floor, the atmosphere blends perfectly with New Orleans culture and scenery.

To add to the excitement of a visit to Harrah's New Orleans, the sights, sounds and tastes of the city's famous French Quarter await Harrah's guests just outside the front entrance to the casino. A variety of distinctive restaurants and hotel accommodations are available within minutes of the luckiest place in New Orleans.

The temporary casino‹with 76,000 square feet of gaming space‹will be the second largest casino in the Harrah's family (the casino at Harrah's Las Vegas boasts 80,000 square feet). The facility features more than 85 table games and 3,000 slot machines. By comparison, Harrah's Lake Tahoe has 63,400 square feet of gaming space with 120 table games and 1,790 slots. Harrah's riverboat casinos range in size from 17,000 to 33,000 square feet of gaming space

Harrah's colorful Basin Street casino will be open, until Harrah's moves into its permanent home in 1996. The new facility, when completed, will be one of the world's largest casinos with 200,000 square feet of gaming space. The beautiful new casino is currently under construction in the heart of downtown at the former site of the Rivergate convention center on Canal Street.

Across the street from the Municipal Auditorium, Harrah's cleared a lot to create 2,350 guest parking spaces, illuminated by $500,000-worth of street lighting. When the permanent Harrah's New Orleans Casino opens on Canal Street, the Municipal Auditorium will be returned to the city with more than $30 million worth of permanent electrical and mechanical improvements.
