Air Service
Reno/Tahoe International Airport is completing a state-of-the-art 2-way runway and terminal addition (late 1995). It is the major air hub for western Nevada and eastern California offering commercial, scheduled, charter, and cargo flights. The rapid passenger and air freight growth over the last four years has made Reno/Tahoe International the 45th largest air carrier airport in the U.S. Since 1990, passenger traffic has increased more than 73%. And in 1994, over 5.3 million passengers were served which represents 11.9% growth from 1993.
Conveniently located in the central part of the city, the airport offers over 220 daily flights to more than 50 North American markets including 22 non-stop destinations. This level of service is enjoyed by communities five times our size.
Ten commercial airlines serve Reno/Tahoe International: Alaska Air, America West, American, Delta, Northwest, Reno Air, Southwest and United; plus two commuter airlines, Sky West and United Express.
The Reno/Tahoe International Airport cargo activity in 1994 was 24,846 U.S. tons, up 12.3% from 1993. The five all-cargo airlines include: Ameriflight, Emery Worldwide, FedEx, Union Flights,and United Parcel Service.

Opened in 1986, FTZ #126 allows foreign goods to enter the U.S. without formal customs entry and payment of customs duties and excise taxes.
