Quick Start Nevada offers a state funded, matching grant program which ensures new and existing employers have access to a skilled work force. The "Quick-Start" Job Training Program operates in conjunction with various state agencies and the Federal Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA). It offers up to 20 days on-the job training in which the employer will be reimbursed up to 50% of the trainees wages. Training is provided only for employees whose initial wage is at least $8.32 per hour and claim Nevada residency. Depending on the extent of training required, a maximum of $ 1,000 per employee is available for customized training. (702) 687-4310. Job Opportunities in Nevada (JOIN) JOIN is a federally funded job training program which offers services to retrain dislocated or disadvantaged workers through classroom and on-the job training. Some services include: recruitment, assessment/testing, applicant skill development, supplemental and customized training, new employee costs and training cost reimbursement. (702) 785-6106. Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) TMCC provides initial skills training in such areas as: welding, forklift operation and safety, database and word processing, plus customized industry-specific programs. They also offer courses in their standard curriculum that can be put toward a college degree. (702) 829-9000. Dept. of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation Its primary mission is to operate a no-fee labor exchange which matches qualified workers with available jobs. This agency administers the department of Employer Services which has specialized staff working in tandem with employers to coordinate and facilitate job placement. Services include advertising, application screening and placement. In addition employers may receive cost reimbursement through programs such as the Claimant Employment Program (CEP) and Veterans Services. (702) 688-1392.
